It is a project that carries stories forward and brings children closer to tradition, culture, books and the Romanian language through play. It is not just about stories — around it there are workshops, reading circles, meetups, projects in schools and kindergartens, and events where children actively participate.
No. Herr Broccoli is not an exclusively Romanian brand and is for all children — and many adults are attached to this world too. Its values — friendship, courage, creativity, play and belonging — are universal. For Romanian children in the diaspora, it is also a natural bridge to their language and roots.
Through bilingual workshops, children discover Romanian culture and the culture of the country they live in without being forced to choose between them. Romanian is learned naturally, not like at school and not through obligation, but through story, play and conversation. Many parents have noticed their children's Romanian improve visibly after taking part in activities.
He is the children's friend: funny, friendly, mischievous, curious and brave. He came to life in 2020: drawn by a 12-year-old girl from Alina's description, crocheted by her as a puppet, and brought to life through stories read on Facebook. He has character — he is not a perfect character who knows everything, but that friend you don't need to see all the time to know he is there.
Creative workshops, book events and launches, reading circles, theatre plays, themed parties and projects in schools and kindergartens. We also have a Romanian library in Germany, with books to borrow and buy. Children work with their hands, draw, listen to stories and become part of the story themselves.
